MOT Changes 2018
The MOT test changed on 20th May 2018, with new defect types, stricter rules for diesel car emissions and some vehicles over 40 years old becoming exempt.
Most common MOT failures
Alas, cars do fail MOT’s. However, the most common failures are fairly inexpensive repairs, which can be avoided. These are:
- Bulbs – from sidelights to indicators, the most common problem and one of the cheapest to rectify
- Brakes – low pads effect your braking and can be dangerous
- Tyres – balding tyres are an immediate fail
Thankfully, if your vehicle does fail, we offer a ‘No Pass, No Fee’ policy and will work with you to get your vehicle back on the road!
Are you due an MOT?
Generally, vehicles over three years old are required by law to have an MOT. If you’re not sure when you MOT is due then head over to the official Gov.uk website and fill in your details!
